Class 4 Dosbarth Pedwar

Welcome to Class 4!

Croeso i Dosbarth Pedwar!

Our current inquiry is:

Cell Scene Investigators

AOLE Focus: Science

Below is our inquiry focus for our learning this half term:

Reading

Reading books need to be brought into school on a Wednesday so that children can participate in class Book Club. We will continue to use Guided Group Reading sessions in class each week to continue to develop our reading and comprehension skills. Please encourage your child to develop good reading habits by reading regularly at home. Pupils should read a variety of texts including fiction and non-fiction, and joining the local library will offer a wider range of books.

Spelling

We have introduced a new spelling programme called Get Spelling to help pupils develop stronger spelling skills. This structured programme provides targeted practice and strategies to improve accuracy and confidence in spelling. In addition, pupils are engaging with interactive spelling games (see link below) that make learning fun and reinforce their knowledge and understanding of spelling patterns and rules. Together, these approaches aim to build both competence and enjoyment in spelling.

Physical Education (Spring Term 2026)

Our P.E day is as follows:
Outdoor - Tuesday.

This terms unit: Cricket

This six‑week cricket programme is designed to give children a fun, engaging introduction to the skills, knowledge, and teamwork involved in cricket. Through practical sessions delivered by qualified external coaches, pupils will develop key physical and personal skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Across the programme, children will learn and practise core techniques such as batting, bowling, catching, and fielding. Sessions will focus on improving hand‑eye coordination, agility, balance, and overall fitness. Coaches will introduce simple game rules and match-play scenarios, helping children understand tactics, fair play, and how different roles contribute to team success.
